For info or ticket purchase, call 518-273-0552. Tickets are discounted for Arts Center and Albany Swing Dancing Members. The band is Doc’s newest unit, the Deja Voodoo Boys, featuring dance music from New Orleans to New York.
Attendees will be able to dance to the music of the 1920’s, 30’s and 40’s as they celebrate the Flapper, Hot Jazz & Big Band Era; all Tommy Guns will have to be checked at the door. People are encouraged to come dressed in the period clothes of spats, hats and beaded dresses and can win a prize for best costume. (However, costumes are NOT mandatory!)
Attendees will be able do the Charleston, Balboa, Jitterbug and Lindy in the Dance Contest, also with great prizes. There will be a beginners swing dance lesson at 7:00 p.m. with well-known swing dance instructor Jason Fenton, with the band starting at 8:00. During the break, there will be a special dance performance by the “Capital Apple Jacks and Jills.”
Prohibition will be suspended for the night and beer, wine, and light fare will be available for purchase courtesy of The Albany Sunspot Cafe…great coffees, teas & desserts too!!
