Is it safe to assume that “ballroom dancing” is a generalized term for couple dancing?
Also, [email protected] is a list for contra dances run by Rude Cider (a student org) – everyone of all ages is always invited. Contra dances from North Adam’s “The Flying Garbanzos” are also announced there.

Hi Ben,
“Ballroom dancing” include traditional and Latin dances with defined step patterns including waltz, fox-trot, Viennese waltz, tango, east coast and west coast swing, rumba, cha-cha, mambo, salsa, samba, merengue, bolero, and quickstep, and even an occasional Polka. All are couples dance format. Ballroom dancing is distinguished from country, line, contra, round, and folk dancing. Sub-specializations within ballroom dancing include a focus on Tango, Argentine Tango, Swing, and Latin areas. All these may be divided into social and competition (dancesport). My website supports social ballroom dancing in particular within our area. The primary purpose is to let people know where they can go for some social ballroom dancing. Thanks for your reply.
Keep on dancing!
Ralph & Lena.
