The Wissahickon Dance Academy is a premier ballet school located in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Founded in 1994, the Academy has grown to become one of the most respected and sought-after schools for aspiring ballet dancers in the United States.

History

The Wissahickon Dance Academy was founded in 1994 by the renowned ballet instructor and choreographer, David LaMotte. LaMotte, a former principal dancer with the Pennsylvania Ballet, created the Academy to provide students with the opportunity to receive the highest-level of ballet training.

The Academy quickly gained a reputation for providing top-notch instruction, and within a few years, had become one of the most respected ballet schools in the United States. Today, the Academy is recognized as one of the premier ballet schools in the world, and has produced some of the most talented ballet dancers in the country.

Faculty and Programs

The Wissahickon Dance Academy is committed to providing the highest-level of instruction and training to its students. The faculty is comprised of experienced and highly-qualified instructors, many of whom are former professional dancers. The Academy also offers a wide range of programs, from beginner to advanced levels, and from recreational to pre-professional.

The Academy’s recreational program is designed for students of all ages and skill levels, and provides a fun and supportive atmosphere for students to learn the basics of ballet. The Academy also offers a pre-professional program, which prepares students for a career in professional ballet.

Performance Opportunities

The Wissahickon Dance Academy offers its students a wide range of performance opportunities, including performances at local and regional venues, as well as performances at the Academy’s annual recital. The Academy also offers its students the chance to participate in a variety of competitions, including the prestigious Youth America Grand Prix.
