The Chesapeake Academy of Dance is a dance school located in Dunkirk, Maryland. Founded in 1992, the Academy has been providing quality dance instruction to students of all ages and abilities for over 25 years. The Academy offers a variety of dance classes, from beginner to advanced, and is the home of the Chesapeake Dance Company.

History of the Academy

The Chesapeake Academy of Dance was founded in 1992 by the late dance teacher and choreographer, David W. Smith. David had been a professional dancer and choreographer for many years and wanted to share his knowledge and passion for dance with others. He opened the Academy with the goal of providing quality dance instruction and creating a supportive and nurturing environment for students of all ages and abilities.

Classes Offered

The Chesapeake Academy of Dance offers a wide variety of classes for students of all ages and abilities. From beginner to advanced, the Academy offers classes in ballet, jazz, contemporary, tap, hip-hop, and more. The Academy also offers special classes for children and teens, as well as classes in ballroom and Latin dance.

The Chesapeake Dance Company

The Chesapeake Dance Company is the resident dance company of the Academy. The company is comprised of talented and dedicated dancers from the Academy and is dedicated to performing and promoting the art of dance. The Company has performed in many venues in Maryland and the surrounding states, and has been featured in several television programs and films.
