Sharron Miller’s Academy for the Performing Arts (SMAPA) is a world-renowned dance school located in Montclair, New Jersey. Founded by the legendary Sharron Miller in 1983, SMAPA has become one of the most respected and sought-after dance schools in the United States.

Mission

SMAPA’s mission is to provide a safe, nurturing, and inspiring environment for students of all ages and levels to learn and grow in the art of dance. We strive to offer a comprehensive education in all forms of dance, from ballet and hip-hop to jazz and contemporary. Our goal is to help our students develop a lifelong love of dance and foster a sense of self-expression and creativity.

Programs

SMAPA offers a wide variety of programs for students of all ages and levels. Our classes range from beginner to advanced and include ballet, jazz, hip-hop, contemporary, tap, and more. We also offer special workshops and master classes with renowned guest instructors.

For our youngest students, we offer our popular “Dance for Little Ones” program, which introduces toddlers and preschoolers to the joys of dance. Our “Dance for Teens” program is designed to help teens explore and develop their own unique style of movement. And our “Dance for Adults” program is designed to help adults of all levels rediscover the joy of dancing.

Faculty

SMAPA is proud to have some of the best instructors in the business. Our faculty is comprised of experienced, professional dancers and choreographers from around the world. Our instructors are passionate about teaching and strive to create a positive, encouraging learning environment for our students.

Performances

SMAPA offers a variety of performance opportunities for our students. We host an annual recital, as well as a variety of other performances throughout the year. Our students have also performed at prestigious venues such as the Lincoln Center and Carnegie Hall.
