Like setting foot on Maui without leaving my living room. Kumu Karyne creates original dances using a mix of contemporary and Polynesian choreography. The dances feel delicious to do and are suitable for beginners. But don’t be deceived by how much fun you are having — this dance is deeply healing for body, mind, and soul. I absolutely loved Karen's classes! I felt at ease and gently supported to keep moving and with her emphasis on the sacredness of our own moving bodies as a way to offer our prayers and dreams up, she created a sanctury in my living room, right there on Zoom. Karyne is a wonderful dance teacher. I loved the 8 week session I took with her learning hula and tahitian dance. Her choreography is flowy and beautiful. She teaches things in a way that are easy to learn. I appreciate her positive energy and her fusion of dance, prayer and spirituality. She embraces dance with purpose. It has definitely inspired me to learn more and to embody more spirit in my movement.
