Our History

Lori’s Dance Center was founded in 2002 by Lori Hennessey, a professional dancer and teacher with over 20 years of experience. Lori opened the school with the goal of providing a safe and welcoming environment for people of all ages and abilities to learn and express themselves through dance.

Since then, Lori’s Dance Center has become a well-known and respected dance school in the East Islip area. We have been featured in numerous publications, including The New York Times, Dance Magazine, and Dance Teacher Magazine. We are also proud to have been voted the Best Dance School in East Islip by the readers of The East Islip Gazette.

Our Classes

At Lori’s Dance Center, we offer a wide variety of classes for all levels of experience and ability. Our classes range from beginner to advanced and are taught by experienced and certified instructors. We offer private lessons, group classes, and special events such as workshops and competitions.

Our classes include:

Ballet

We offer a variety of ballet classes for all levels, from beginner to advanced. Our classes focus on the fundamentals of ballet technique and are designed to help students develop strength, flexibility, and grace.

Jazz

Our jazz classes are designed to help students develop a strong foundation in jazz technique and style. We focus on the fundamentals of jazz dance, including rhythm, coordination, and improvisation.

Hip Hop

Our hip hop classes are high-energy and fun. We focus on the fundamentals of hip hop, including body isolations, popping, locking, and breaking. We also offer classes in freestyle and choreography.

Ballroom

Our ballroom classes are designed to help students develop a strong foundation in the fundamentals of ballroom dancing. We focus on the basics of the various ballroom dances, including the waltz, foxtrot, cha-cha, and tango.

Fitness

We also offer a variety of fitness classes, including Zumba, Pilates, and yoga. Our classes are designed to help students improve their overall fitness and well-being.

Our Facilities

At Lori’s Dance Center, we are proud to offer a state-of-the-art facility with two large studios and a spacious lobby. Our studios are equipped with sprung floors, mirrors, and professional sound systems. We also have a variety of props and equipment available for use in our classes.
