I've taken several sessions of the Spanish Literature class with Gustavo Carvajal, and have had a great experience each time. Gustavo always selects interesting and challenging readings from all over Central and South America, and the group discussions of those readings present an engaging way to practice Spanish conversation. The other students have always been lovely, and the environment is very informal and friendly. I'll definitely continue taking classes here.
I have been going to El Taller for Spanish classes for 2 1/2 years and have yet to tire of it. It is a wonderful place to learn conversational Spanish, and to meet and make new friends. Recently, El Taller moved to a new space on the Upper East Side, giving the organization a terrific art space, classrooms and offices. There are frequently free programs, a Spanish Meet-up class, and Salsa classes. Try a free language class! I believe that you will love it.
My 3 year old daughter attend the Spanish playgroup.I can’t say enough wonderful things about the program. My daughter’s teacher Indiana is charming, charismatic, and energetic. She has fostered my daughter’s interest in the Spanish language and has kept her motivated and looking forward to her lessons. From the moment we walk in the door to the moment we leave, everyone is friendly and warm towards my daughter and myself.
The conversational instruction method really teaches you to speak. I have had a particularly good experience with Gustavo Carvajal who is so intelligent and selects such diverse, interesting topics for discussion and finds such creative ways to teach grammar through conversation and to practice through oral games. We have also read and discussed some provocative essays and learned a lot about Columbia, his native country.
