Downing-Gross Cultural Arts Center

History

The Downing-Gross Cultural Arts Center has been a part of the Newport News community for over 50 years. The center was established in 1965, and since then, it has been a place for the community to come together to enjoy a variety of cultural activities. The center is named after two prominent African American figures in the community, Dr. William Downing and Dr. William Gross. The center is dedicated to providing the community with a variety of educational and cultural activities.
