History

Ballet Magnificat! was founded by Kathy Thibodeaux in 1986. Thibodeaux was an experienced dancer, having studied at the North Carolina School of the Arts and the Joffrey Ballet School. She was also a member of the Jackson Ballet Company, which she left to start her own company.

The company’s first performance was at the Jackson Civic Auditorium in 1986. Since then, the company has performed in over forty states and five countries, and has received numerous awards and accolades.

In addition to performing, Ballet Magnificat! also offers classes and workshops to aspiring dancers. The company has two locations, one in Jackson and one in Southaven, Mississippi.

Mission

Ballet Magnificat!’s mission is to “transform lives through the power of dance.” The company strives to use the art of dance to bring people together and to inspire individuals to reach their fullest potential.
