Ballet Chesapeake is a performing arts group based in Abingdon, Maryland. Founded in 1982, Ballet Chesapeake has been a leader in the Maryland dance community for over 35 years. Ballet Chesapeake offers a unique blend of classical ballet, modern dance, and hip-hop, and is dedicated to providing quality dance instruction and performance opportunities to students of all ages.

History

Ballet Chesapeake was founded in 1982 by two local dancers, John and Sally Smith. The Smiths had a vision of creating a dance school that would provide quality dance instruction and performance opportunities to all members of the community. Since then, Ballet Chesapeake has grown to become one of the most respected and successful performing arts groups in Maryland.

Programs

Ballet Chesapeake offers a variety of classes and programs for students of all ages and abilities. For young dancers, Ballet Chesapeake offers a comprehensive curriculum of ballet, modern dance, and hip-hop. For older students, Ballet Chesapeake offers a variety of performance opportunities, including its annual recital, summer intensive, and outreach performances. In addition, Ballet Chesapeake offers classes for adults, including adult ballet, modern dance, and hip-hop.

Faculty

Ballet Chesapeake’s faculty consists of highly trained and experienced dancers and instructors. All of the faculty members have extensive experience in their respective fields and are dedicated to providing quality instruction and performance opportunities to all students. The faculty is committed to providing a safe and supportive learning environment for all students.

Community Outreach

Ballet Chesapeake is committed to giving back to the community. The school regularly performs outreach performances at local schools and community centers. In addition, Ballet Chesapeake offers scholarships and financial aid to students in need.
