Newport Contemporary Ballet is a dance company based in Newport, Rhode Island. Founded in 2005, the company has quickly become one of the most respected and sought-after dance companies in the United States.

At Newport Contemporary Ballet, we strive to create a unique and inspiring experience for our audiences, while offering a safe and nurturing environment for our dancers. Our mission is to provide high-quality performances and educational opportunities that promote the appreciation of dance and the arts.

Our History

Newport Contemporary Ballet was founded in 2005 by Artistic Director, Lisa D’Amato. She has been a professional dancer since the age of eleven and has been teaching and choreographing for over two decades. She has been a guest artist and teacher at many prestigious ballet schools and companies throughout the United States.

The company has grown from a small group of dedicated dancers to a full-fledged professional dance company. We now have a staff of professional dancers, teachers, choreographers, and production staff. Our mission is to provide high-quality performances and educational opportunities that promote the appreciation of dance and the arts.

Our Repertoire

The repertoire of Newport Contemporary Ballet consists of classical and contemporary works. Our repertoire is inspired by the works of renowned choreographers such as George Balanchine, Marius Petipa, and Jerome Robbins. We also feature works from contemporary choreographers such as Christopher Wheeldon, Alexei Ratmansky, and Matthew Bourne.

Our Performances

Newport Contemporary Ballet performs throughout the United States and abroad. We have performed at venues such as the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, D.C., the Joyce Theater in New York City, and the Royal Opera House in London. We also perform at festivals and special events throughout the year.

Our Education Programs

At Newport Contemporary Ballet, we offer a variety of educational programs for all ages. We offer classes for children, teens, and adults in ballet, modern, jazz, and hip-hop. We also offer master classes and workshops for professional dancers.
