Salsa Gente is a Cuban style dance school located in Santa Cruz, California. We specialize in teaching Cuban style salsa, merengue, bachata, and cha-cha. Our mission is to bring the joy of Cuban style dancing to the United States and to share it with the world.

Our History

Salsa Gente was founded in 2008 by Cuban-American dancer and choreographer, Juan Carlos “JC” Díaz. JC was born and raised in Cuba and moved to the United States in 2001. He was inspired to create Salsa Gente after seeing the popularity of Cuban style dancing in the United States.

Our Philosophy

At Salsa Gente, we believe that dancing is a universal language that can bring people together. We strive to create an inclusive, welcoming space where people of all ages and backgrounds can come together to learn Cuban style dancing. We also believe in the power of music to bring people together and to create a sense of community.

Our Classes

At Salsa Gente, we offer a variety of classes for all levels of dancers. Our classes are taught by experienced instructors who specialize in Cuban style dancing. We offer both group classes and private lessons. Our classes are designed to be fun and engaging, while also teaching the fundamentals of Cuban style dancing.

Our Location

Salsa Gente is located in the Creative Eden Lounge in Santa Cruz, California. The Creative Eden Lounge is a beautiful venue with a full bar and a dance floor. We are open on Wednesdays from 7-8:30 PM.
