The top floor of a historic manufacturing building sets the scene for a studio that’s got beauty and grit. Heather, the owner, is incredibly knowledgeable and teaches beginners and veterans with equal skill. I always leave class feeling empowered and sore…in a good way. If you’re intimidated or unsure if you want to give it a go — trust me when I say, do it!

Steel in Motion is THE pole studio in Portland. If you have taken a pole class in Portland, you have learned from Heather—bc she has trained the other teachers in town. She’s the best!! Heathers classes are fun, professional and push you to work hard. I have learned so much from her. Pole is also an experience in movement, performance and strength that is so fun to play with. The other classes offered are also unique—I want to be there every night of the week!

As a professional in the pole industry for the better part of a decade, I can confidently say that Heather is a phenomenal instructor. She creates a comfortable and encouraging environment that welcomes EVERY body! She has a deep knowledge of the human body and is well equipped to offer progressions, regressions, and safely spot students. She will also be the your biggest cheer leader. Go take her class, highly recommended!

so approachable for a newbie, the intro classes I’ve taken have been an absolute blast!! Heather’s energy is incredible, so supportive, and very entertaining. HIGHLY recommend taking a pole class here! Great way to get out of your comfort zone in a safe environment and in a really FUN and rewarding way. I am very excited to move up levels and learn more at this studio!
