Rochester Dance Theatre is a dance school and company located in Rochester, New York. Established in 1985, Rochester Dance Theatre is dedicated to providing quality and innovative dance instruction and performances to the Rochester community. We strive to create an atmosphere of creativity and collaboration, while fostering an appreciation for the art of dance.

Our History

Rochester Dance Theatre was founded in 1985 by Artistic Director, Carla Smith. Carla has been a professional dancer and choreographer for over thirty years, and has been teaching dance for over twenty-five years. She has been a member of the faculty at the Rochester Institute of Technology, the State University of New York at Brockport, and the University of Rochester. Carla has also been a featured guest artist at numerous dance festivals and conferences.

Rochester Dance Theatre has grown to become one of the premier dance schools and companies in the Rochester area. We offer a wide range of classes and programs for students of all ages and levels, from beginner to advanced. Our faculty consists of highly trained professionals who specialize in various styles of dance, including Ballet, Jazz, Tap, Hip-Hop, Modern, and Contemporary.

Our Programs

Rochester Dance Theatre offers a wide variety of classes and programs for students of all ages and levels. Our classes include Ballet, Jazz, Tap, Hip-Hop, Modern, and Contemporary. We also offer private lessons, workshops, and master classes.

We have a full-time performance company that performs throughout the year. Our company has performed at numerous festivals and events, including the Rochester Fringe Festival, the Rochester International Jazz Festival, and the Rochester International Dance Festival.

Our Facilities

Rochester Dance Theatre is located in the heart of Rochester, New York. Our facility includes four spacious studios, a full-size stage, and a costume shop. We also have a student lounge, a viewing area, and a reception area.

Our Schedule and Contacts

Rochester Dance Theatre is open Monday through Thursday from 3:30-9:30 PM, and Saturday from 10 AM-4 PM. We are closed on Fridays and Sundays.
